上: 服役7天就斷裂的軸. Above: A poorly designed shaft that failed after only 7 days in service. Below: A transition distance is needed to blend large dia. into small dia.. A taper is better than an arc of 1/4 circle because you get "constant rate of change" from a taper and varying rate of change from an arc.
下2: 大小徑變化要有一(斜度)過渡區, 以避免內部應力線集中(stress lines concentration). 鍵槽末端也不可太接近變徑處.
